We
are believing and contending for
- a
new Toyota pickup truck $35,000
- our debts
to be erased $6,700
- plane tickets
$4,000
- our third
building to be finished $10,000
- new monthly
donors to have 100% of our budget met
We
declare the time of lack is OVER!
OPPOSITION
As
a 20-year-old new believer I prayed for God to send me where they
have never heard the good news and where nobody wants to
go. After I went to Mali ten years later, I found it hard
to find people willing to come to Mali to minister,
and it took me getting married after nearly 12 years in Mali to
have another white person/Westerner on the base there. Even when
people have said they'd come, they'd cancel; only few have made
it.
We
were very blessed when Patricia King said
she wanted to stop by on her way out of Africa, and knew it was
God's perfect timing as we had entered this new
season, with Randy having come to my side. Before her arrival, we
could feel the anticipation in the air, our spirits full
of excitement of what God was up to, even though we were
tired and worn out and wondered how to have the energy for a week
of events.
Our
friends Bruce & Cheryl Lindley, HIM apostles
from Australia, were coming with her and were going to stay a week,
while Patricia had 48 hours. However, there was an issue with the
plane ticket, and Patricia thought she was going straight home instead
of going to Mali. Through God's miraculous intervention
in the last second, she got to board the plane to Mali
after all.
It
was a small plane, and it was rattled severely by the storm
raging outside. People all over the plane were shouting
and praying and thinking they were about to die. The pilot later
said he had never seen a storm like this in 20 years of flying.
After the plane landed, some people fell to the ground thanking
God they had made it.
Two
days later, Patricia's flight out of Mali was first delayed then
canceled and she had to wait an additional 24 hours
before getting out.
All
this extreme opposition made us all the more excited
that God was up to something, as the enemy tried so hard to keep
them out of Mali. Not this time.
CONFRONTED
WITH TRUTH
The
first thing our three visitors noticed driving in a taxi to our
base was the extreme poverty and the sadness
in adult and children's faces. And arriving on our base, they confronted
us with the sad truth that our base had come under the influence
of the spirit of poverty in the land. They pointed out
our three broken down vehicles sitting around, constantly screaming
poverty, and they were very aware of all that needed to be repaired
or cleaned, even though we had done our best to make our base look
spotless. But they were right. All those years I had been trying
to teach them cleanliness and holiness - in a culture
where there is no trash cans or trash removal or even sewage system,
but everything is thrown on the ground. It's also a culture where
children never learn to take care of things - when
it's broken, it's broken, whether that's furniture, clothes, or
eletronics.
As
soon as our visitors had left, we took practical action.
We started repairing mosquito screens, lamps, furniture, and decided
to repaint the boys' dorm and then challenge them
to keep the room beautiful and clean. It turned out to be major
project, but the result was beautiful. When we return, we will tackle
the other rooms that need painting big time, as well as repairing
what still needs to be done.
Another
spirit in the land is that of oppressing women and children
who have no rights. Men live their own lives, and so do women. Most
families never know where their children are as they are free to
roam the streets all day long, whatever their age. Unless they work
hard like slaves. One five-year-old son is given away
to Muslim teachers - a sacrifice to Allah to increase your chances
to make it to paradise - and girls have to go through genital
mutilation to be marriable. With one word, marriages and
families are under attack, and we have to keep ourselves
protected from those spirits. Therefore we ask for your
prayers for our marriage, as well as Paul &
Rokia's. They have been married for 3.5 years now, and things are
not going well.
Before
we left Mali for the summer, I had a message burning on
my heart, a challenge to give to our children, and I delivered
it with authority. I challenged them to not go back to their old
ways but to go higher and higher, forward and upward,
even while we're gone. I had three points. 1. "Be holy,
as I am holy", challenging them to keep our base clean
and spotless and beautiful. 2. To work diligently,
with a spirit of excellence, as unto the Lord, doing their best,
and working hard. 3. To stop talking back, grumbling and
complaining. And we've seen them act accordingly. They
have been working hard picking up trash and making our base beautiful,
not complaining about working more than 1 hour, and even finding
joy and fulfilment in working. Praise God!

MEETINGS
We
had five evening meetings in a row with our visitors.
Patricia did the first, and Bruce the other four. We had handed
out hundreds of invitations and had put up many posters, as well
as announcing the meetings on Christian radio. And while not as
many as hoped showed up, we had great meetings where Holy
Spirit came down to save, heal, and change, to reveal the
Father's heart and call to serve Him wholeheartedly.
We
had two smaller meetings for our children and workers,
and all children were prophesied over, being greatly encouraged,
and their lives greatly impacted and moved back on the right track.
Randy
and I and Paul had behind the scenes meetings with
Patricia, Bruce & Cheryl where we received invaluable input
and advice, blessing us and helping us greatly. Their visit was
just what we needed to go to the next level.
Please
pray for us as we continue implementing changes
and acting on what God has spoken and shown. Pray
also for our summer away that God continues to speak to
us, equip us, direct us, and prepare us for our return.

OUR
SUMMER ITINERARY
In
the column on the left you can see when we are where. You can also
check the CALENDAR
page on our website that I'll be keeping updated. Here are some

QUICK
NEWS
- Revival
Breakout - I have put a 7-minute video
on YouTube of the meeting I told you about last week, when revival
broke out among our kids. Watch
it here.
- Planting
Millet - The same man who let us use his field last
summer is letting us use it again to plant millet this rainy season,
when our children are on school vacation for four months.
We pray for a good rainy season so we can have
an abundant harvest this year. And it's a great way to keep the
children occupied.´
- Signs
& Wonders - Randy has been going out into our neighborhood
daily to let Holy Spirit lead him to
the sick and the lost, healing them and showing them
the way to Jesus. A few of our children go with him, and there
are already many testimonies of what God has
done. Please befriend Randy or me on Facebook to get those reports.
The children continue going out twice a week while we are gone.
- YWAM
Outreach - Four of our older children
are going on a YWAM outreach just across the border in Burkina
Faso for three weeks. Please pray for them, and give
if you'd like to sow into their trip.
- Home
Visits - Several of our children will be going
home to visit their families for a few weeks during the
summer holiday. Please pray for protection for
them, and that they'd be a light for their families.
- New
Truck - All our children have a picture of the Toyota
pickup truck we need, praying with faith that we will have it
in the natural by the time school starts in September.
Please join us in that prayer!
- New
Video - Professional producers have made a new promotional
video for us that you can watch on our YouTube channel here.
- Volunteers
- We always need volunteers in Mali who can stay a
few months or more. If you'd like to come help us, please
contact me.
“Arise, shine, for your light has come, and the glory of the
Lord rises upon you. See, darkness covers the earth and thick darkness
is over the peoples, but the Lord rises upon you and his glory appears
over you. (Isa
60:1-2)
