WHEN YOU REACH THE END OF THE ROPE

This morning I reviewed our finances, and I felt like the widow at Zarephath who said to Elijah in 1 Kings 17:12, "As surely as the Lord your God lives,” she replied, “I don’t have any bread—only a handful of flour in a jar and a little olive oil in a jug. I am gathering a few sticks to take home and make a meal for myself and my son, that we may eat it—and die." We have made all the debts we could make, and now there is no more money to withdraw anywhere. We have a little bit of cash left, enough to pay the salaries for this week, and then use up the rice we've got at home - our flour and olive oil. After 11 years of being in Mali, having come here without any money and supporters and going through many tough times, yet the ministry growing, in this time of transition we are currently in - just before great breakthroughs and victories - our brooks have dried up.

In less than two weeks we celebrate the birth of our Savior - a very special and joyful time on our base in Bamako. Usually we go swimming first and then have a special chicken Christmas dinner with ALL our 40 sponsored children plus workers. Last year we had to severly curtail our activies because of lack of finances. This year there'll be neither swimming nor chicken to eat. Still, we will praise and magnify Him and rejoice in His coming to earth!

In light of our serious situation, I have declared tomorrow, Sunday, a day of prayer and fasting for breakthrough on our base and in our church in Mali. Please join us and/or become part of God's answer!

QUICK NEWS

  •       Ebola Update - About two weeks ago Mali was declared Ebola-free. We've had 7 cases, 5 of which died. Please keep praying for Ebola to stay out of our country.
  •       TV Broadcast - The Sunday after our big 10-year-anniversary celebration, a half-hour program was broadcast on Malian national television. We received hundreds of phone calls, mainly to congratulate us. May there be much fruit!
  •        Millet & Corn Field - We have harvested our millet and corn. Unfortunately the rainy season was not good enough and so we have much less than expected. Once all the grains have been processed we'll know how long the supplies will last.
  •       Article - An article I wrote appeared in Patricia King's magazine ARISE at the beginning of the month. Read it here and please pass it on to your friends.
  •        Engaged - On November 18th Randy asked me to marry him, and I said yes. It's been an amazing God-story how He has brought us together, and we'll tell you more in future emails. We spent two weeks together in Vienna, and then one week in Mali before he had to return to the US. He'll be with me in Augusta, GA, and California in January. Click on the links for our pictures from Europe and from Mali.
  •        New Truck Needed - We just repaired one of our trucks again, one of the several times per month, while the other one has been in the shop for a month with us not having the money to have it repaired. We desperately need a new Toyota pick-up truck like in the picture, which unfortunately costs as much as $40,000 or 30.000€.
  •       Volunteers - We always need volunteers in Mali who can stay a few months or more. If you'd like to come help us, please contact me.

Little children, let us not love [merely] in theory or in speech but in deed and in truth (in practice and in sincerity). (1.John 3:18, AMP)

Claudia
