When they came to the border of Mysia, they tried to enter Bithynia, but the
Spirit of Jesus would not allow them to. So they passed by Mysia and went
down to Troas. During the night Paul had a vision of a man of Macedonia
standing and begging him, "Come over to Macedonia and help us."
After Paul had seen the vision, we got ready at once to leave for Macedonia,
concluding that God had called us to preach the gospel to them. (Acts 16:7-10)

God's ways are higher than our ways,
and sometimes He works out His purposes in ways that are totally beyond us,
even unpleasant and difficult, as we learn to trust Him in all circumstances.
I have now been in Toronto for nearly
a week, recovering and seeking the Lord's will, and I'm seeing more and more
why I am here at this time, even if I go to Kansas City next week.
As I said, I'm staying with a
missionary who has spent many years in Africa, part of that time in a country
neighboring on Mali. Over the past few months I have been asking the Lord
many questions concerning the details of my move to Mali, and over these past
few days I have found many answers in the course of my conversations with
that missionary.
Why the Scripture on top?
I have an invitation to start
teaching German in a private school in Bamako, the capital of Mali, starting
October 1st. The e-mail said, "Come, start October 1st, we desperately
need a German teacher!"
As you can see, the decisions being
made these days are very profound. I have been preparing to go to Mali for
eight years, and I do have to consider whether this is the door to Mali I
have been praying for - even though it's earlier than I had intended.
Certainly, it would make entering the
US easy, where I could simply pack up my stuff and say my goodbyes. And I
could do research right there in Mali for my thesis.
Friends, please pray for God's will
to be very clear and to be done. So many things are going through my mind at
this time.
Tonight the conference at TACF
starts, and I'm looking forward to a few days in His presence, seeking His
face, and getting clear guidance as to where to go when for how long.
